You can have too much slack....
Did you see the report on seatbelts that give you slack so that you can
lean forward in your seat? They have been shown to be lethal in some
accidents. They give you just enough slack to smash your head.
Some European country (Great Britian??) now will require seatbelts that
give no slack.
