I wonder what the people protesting Sweet Jesus would do if they heard
about Jesus Jeans? These were jeans available in Europe---I don't
know if they ever made it to the states---around '73--'75. The ad
for them was a very tight close-up of a pretty severely cut-off pair
of jean cut-offs moulded around a well-formed pairs of buttocks, with
the Biblical slogan: ``Who(ever)loves me, follows me''. There was
quite a stink about them when they were introduced into Italy. There
was an interesting twist when they were introduced into Greece,
though. There, they were Christos Jeans. Now, in modern Greek the
letter iota, which is what Christ(os) is normally spelled with, and
eta are pronounced the same. The ads for Christos Jeans all had
Christos spelled with an eta (which would mean something like
``useful''). But if you looked closely at the posters, you would see
that the Christos with an eta was just a sticker placed on top of
Christos with an iota. An interesting method of having it both ways.
Hmm, sound rather slackful, now that I think of it.
