Let me get something straight here. I am NOT in support OR
against the various Con attempts to curtail the organ trade,
nor am I an opponent of free trade.
The fact is that free trade in the organ business apparently
means that the end-user still pays through the nose for the organs
they receive. This market is not controlled yet. I don't think
controlling will help either. What will help is eliminating mid-
dlemen! Don't let the flesh traders rob you, and certainly don't
let the Con rob you by taking control of organ trade (probably to
get THEIR cut, no doubt)!
Also, remember that this article was inherently humorous, which
is what prompted me to post it in the first place!
Let's all relax, and get some SLACK!

In reference to an 6/17/91 article in Time magazine, entitled "Trading Flesh
Around The Globe," and comments from "lvc@cbnews.cb.att.com
(lawrence.v.cipriani)," you write via the Subgenius Digest, Wed, 19 Jun 91,
Volume 2, Issue 186:
> I knew I could get a rise if I posted that organ-trading article to
> usenet. Perhaps this guy would like to go into business, so please
> send him mail telling him what body parts you are willing to sell,
> asking price, condition, etc.
Why are you asking us loyal SubGs to do something like that? Libertarianism
(with small or large "L") is a damn fine political outlook for a SubG. In fact,
I've been a lib (small and large "l") longer than I've been a Reverend, and I've
been a SubG since '87, just after the '87 WorldCon (but that's another story),
back before the "Bobbies" started joining, Now, I'm not going to argue that
PatrioPsychotic- AnarchoMaterialism doesn't fit in too, but cripes... your
respons is out of all proportion (or any understanding) given Mr. Cipriani's
calm, reasoned (and SubGenial) response.
Someone I know (Ahem!) got kicked off this list for sending in a chain
letter--an act they did not, I have good reason to believe, intend to have taken
nearly as seriously as Steve "Hierophant" Strassman intended. Humor, eh? His
"cure" was worse than the disease. As, I think, is your biliously "humorous"
response.
Might I suggest you lighten up a bit? As one of my colleagues down here in
Broward County, Florida ("Censorship Capital of the U.S.A.!") put it "Take the
Church seriously, but don't take the seriously seriously." Email to Christian
paranoids who hate us is one thing--pissing off a potential (unless I miss my
guess) convert, very much another.

Actually, there *is* one organ I'd like to have replaced, preferably
with a Yeti-sized model, since the original equipment is starting to poop
out on me. What's the going price, presumably in $k per inch?
Yes, I am aware that some nit-pickers say that, precisely speaking,
it's not an organ, but merely a structure.

Libertarians in my experience tend to be political pinheads. They
also have a notoriously feeble sense of humor. Now, it's quite true
that subgeniusdom and pinheaddom and libertariandom are
nonintersecting sets, but that doesn't stop me from flaming those that
deserve it.
As for pissing off potential converts, we should all be trying to piss
off as many people as possible, ourselves included. What do you think
this Church is ABOUT???? I suspect you have Bobby tendencies, and
need a week or two at Dobbstown to purify and re-educate your soul.
[PS: Further debate on the merits of libertarianism will mysteriously
not appear in the digest. Try anarchy-list@cwi.nl if you really can't
hold it in.]

Nonintersecting sets? I just told you, I _am_ a a lib.

You may have a point there. (Comb your hair right and no one else will
notice.) But hey, I managed to piss YOU off, didn't I? Heh. Set me up
with the 23-day special to Dobbstown, OK? I need the vacation from the
Con.

Nonintersecting sets? I just told you, I _am_ a a lib.
Oops, I meant intersecting sets, of course. Thus proving my point.
And I swear by the ghost of Jon Taft that this is the last word on the
subject.
