A must-read for the serious conisseur of Pink culture or Bulldata!
"We are living in a moment teeming with raucously overvalued emptiness
and trash."
About USAToday:
"To entice an audience already hooked on TV, Neuharth finally settled,
after prolonged experimentation, on a sidewalk dispensing stand
bearing as close a resemblance as possible to a TV set on a pedestal,
with the top half of the newspaper aping the TV screen. Television's
way with the news provides a model for USAToday's editorial
procedures, and not merely its ostentation use of graphics, most of
them merely showy and unnecessary. Like TV news departments,
Neuharth's paper has few reporters but lots of editors, rewriters,
presenters, fixers-up, suppliers of the proper company tone, and
similar executants of the egotistic publisher's will."
