Can someone enlighten me on the source of this quote? I've seen it
lots of times on the net, someone even posted a .snd-file with someone
saying it. Enquiring mind wants to know!!

Ob SubG content: the new KLF hit is called "Justified And Ancient".
I have yet to listen carefully to the lyrics. As you all know, KLF
was formerly known as Justified Ancients Of Mumu. KLF is said to stand
for Kallisti Liberation Front.

I did hear somewhere that the guy was given credence -- a German warship
was sent out a ways so they could look UP (relatively; perhaps 20-30 degree)
and hopefully spot oncoming American ships...

Perhaps this whole theory has a LOT to do with all those signs I keep
seeing, telling me to call someone before digging...?

I know this is straying from SubG issues, but...

Several years back, a friend of mine at Sun wrote PizzaTool, a
window-based Open Look-compliant X client. When run, it presents you
with a set of dialogs that allow you to select pizza size and toppings,
and verify price and delivery place and time. Upon clicking "Order" or
something, it would compose a pizza order, render it to a bitmap, dial
a modem, and fax it to Tony & Alba's Pizza in Mountain View.

I'd name names, but there was actually quite a scandal: it seems
PizzaTool was developed using the politically incorrect XView toolkit
instead of the insanely great TNT X/NeWS PostScript toolkit (Sun: "Yes,
we support X11, but we don't have to like it.") and there was some
unpleasantness as management stood in line to cane the author.

Moral: Slack can *very threatening* to the Pinks--be careful out there.
