Collect 'em, trade 'em! Whitney Point, a town near Ithaca, NY (from whence
this message came), has a welcome sign that says "Best by a Dam Site".

>At Jake's, a fast-food place on Lawrence Street in Chicago:
>
>"Only a rooster gets a better piece of chicken than Jake's!"

Sadly, they don't have this (though Lisle, next door to Whitney Point, has a
lot on the main street containing a hundred port-o-johns - quite a sight. And
there is the local septic cleaning company whose motto is "We're number one in
the number two business").

Ah, the sophisticated humor and joys of rural life,

Eric

is in Chicago, Sep 4-6. Contact Pope Flores for more info, PO Box
14683, Chicago IL 60614-0683.

I've mailed off recently, but need information on where it will be
held for housing, etc. (Pope Flores is too slackful to have his name
in the book.) Does anyone out there have more information?

On a trip to Del Rio, Texas, I passed through Hondo. A sleepy little
burg, it has an eternal place in my heart due to the sign posted on
I-90 as you hit downtown:

This is God's country. Please don't drive through it like Hell.

I contemplated slowing down to take a picture, but it's hard to
decellerate from 85 mph. Yee-Haw!

Only 630!? Of course, by the time the next federal census is due, the
X-ists will have been here for their little millennial picnic and gone,
so Bob-only knows who'll be here to count or be counted. Maybe we
should send for absentee forms?
