start a rumor that they're dead! Christ, it worked for Paul McCartney and
Mark Twain, why NOT for the demi-otic RAW-fnord-man!

Dear Friends, This morning I have read ten tributes to Wilson on various lists, and five remarks claiming that the Wilson is not dead. I saw the notice of his death on two lists, and reposted it on Fringeware as well as to some of you directly. I had one friend call me up, quite saddened, and even exchanged Email with dear and respected friends on the topic. If Wilson isn't dead, my apologies to those I passed the news along to. If Wilson is dead, then I am very mad at the second string of messages. I had only exchanged four or five letters with him -- none since he returned to the States. With the exception of posting the note to Fringeware, everyone I contacted by phone or E-mail was someone I knew personally cared about Wilson. If this is a hoax, I can't understand its dynamics or beauty as a scheme. I know a lot of people that were made truly sad by this. The argument might be made that such a hoax makes us aware of the worth of the person involved. But I have been aware of enough loss to appreciate people. Like anyone whose hung around the Net, for awhile -- heel like anyone whose read newspapers I've been tricked before which causes everything from indignation to amusement, but this hit me really differently. Given the number of phone calls, letters, reporters and so forth that will now descend on Wilson's home, someone must have hated him a great deal to launch this as a hoax. I just spoke to Hakim Bey, who just called R.A. Wilson to check on the rumor. He's alive. The whole thing was a scam. RAW knew about it and has no idea who's responsible. He thought it was kind of funny. There was NO article in the L.A. Times.

According to Paco at IO.COM this is a CONSPIRACY HOAX. Why did you remove the header, i wanted to trace these guys, if indeed Steve Jackson was involved.
