Greetings Mutants...

Going to show how much a SubGenius can
warp your mind if you let them be around you enough,
for those of you who know of a new Louisiana horror author
Poppy Z. Brite, her debut "vampire" novel, _Lost Souls?_,
took what Anne Rice had done to the vampire novel in a new
direction.

With her sophmore offering, _Drawing Blood_,
Poppy shows her affiliation with us from the first few pages
on. She credits "Bob" and St. Janor Hypercleets (as well as
Will O'Dobbs and Stang) in the thank yous, and one of the main
characters, a hacker from New Orleans, is, quite undoubtably,
a SubGenius. Descriptions via the characters are nice little
plugs for the father church, and the sadistic humor shown by
Ms. Brite can only reflect her friendship with everyone's pal,
Saint Janor Hypercleets.

Apart from the obvious slack that can be ascertained
from reading _Drawing Blood_, it's a pretty decent book. Poppy
is showing herself to be an excellent author. If you're sick
of Stephen King and Clive Barker, go out and try some Poppy...
