I have been a lurker on this news group off and on for some time. As an
impressionable youth I was exposed to the word of Bob via short features on a
late night rock and variety show "Night Flight". In home town USA there was
little of the strange and wonderfull for the masses liked it not. One of the
first searches I did when I got my first intenet conection was too see if
any one remebered or had any pages on the WWW for Bob. Imagine my joy at
finding a thriving living church/industry. I have never become an active
SubG but have remained a latent SubG, I have never been anywhere near a SubG
community but have felt on on-line kinship with similarly twisted folks. It
saddens me to see recent events tear apart this group. I am an active duty
Sergeant with the USAF and will soon be in Saudi, much closer to the "war"
than I am now. I know emotions are running high but hope that we don't turn
on each other. I see news reports where morons are attacking inocent
American Hindus and Sihks, hell if you just have to commit a senseless act
of unproductive violence at least get a victim that remotely resembles the
target of your anger. Keep the debate lively, I fight for your right to
disagree among each other and even for your right to shout curses at me when
I get off the plane returning home. As mad as it may make me I know I have
done my job defending freedom when some one burns the flag or such. As mad I
may get at the beliefs and acts of folks like that I try not to make it
personal. Get mad at each other but enjoy the debate and stay friends if you
can.
P.S. I have been a hasher for many years. A group that seems like it would
attract SugG's. Does any one know of Sub'G's that also hash?
Do my words come out in bits and pieces?
Let them fall upon the ground as worthless feces.

S'alright Greg. Most of us have met with and partied with each other at
Brushwood or elsewhere, and the obnoxious ones whom we haven't partied with
aren't really worth humiliating for any reason other than fun. The ultimate
goal for all of us is to get a god.damn.saucer. off this rock and all of its
bullshit regardless of any comparatively minor personal opinions of what the
Pinks do to each other. I don't see this ng torn apart really, if anything
it's rant-fuel. Ranting is what we do best. Most of us know and care about
each other even if some of us are annoying as hell in real life.

Stay safe and take care of yourself. One of my buddies is in the USAF and a
medic. He's about to get sent out. Stay freaky under those fatigues and
always remember that regardless of how well real bullets may work,
slack-bullets work best. Hopefully you have your minister's card that you
can keep in your wallet out in the desert, just to look at and remember who
you REALLY are, if you don't, call the Church, cover the insignificantly
cheap pencilpushers membership fee and see if those slackers can expedite
your Priceless Right To Slack In Convenient Card Form to a Veteran for
"Bob".

Never really did personally, but I have friends who simply LOVE corned
beef hash.

Or did you mean something else?

Your words come out in one big chuck
Like one who has taken a power dump
Prunes or enemas your post doesn't need
Just a healthy diet of linefeed

I wouldn't worry about that. You should have seen this ng during the
Starr-Lewinsky mess.

Hey, don't worry, most of us here are acutely aware of the difference
between a politician making decisions we don't like, and the people who
actually have the job of DOING THE SHIT. I know I speak for most
SubGenii when I say we TOTALLY support our men and women in uniform
even if we aren't totally behind what they were told to do.

In this case, there are idiots who want you to go in shooting at
everything that moves -- these are the people who know nothing and like
it that way. Then I have been hearing idiots saying, "This is a job for
courts, not armiess." Oh great, let's just write these guys a traffic
ticket and tell 'em to report to the Hague tribunal on Monday.

I know that were it not for BRAVE SONS-A-BITCHES and MIGHTY WEAPONS, we
SubGenii would NEVER be able to get away with all the bitching and
griping we do about our "betters."

I didn't like the Vietnam war, but I didn't spit on servicemen either
-- we all know those are the kinds of isolated incidents that
hate-mongers blow out of proportion. (On the other hand the soldiers
WERE treated like shit EN MASSE by the V.A., far as I can tell.)

I seriously doubt if the U.S. is about to go into Afghanistan with guns
blazing. OF COURSE they're building up a huge show of force. Hell, they
might need it! And who knows, maybe the the Taliban WILL be intimidated
into giving up bin Laden. But he may be only a part, and not even the
main part of this mess. Other terrorists are also suspected, and indeed
the government of Iraq. But it looks to me like this is mostly going to
be pursued via other approaches that are meant to be longer lasting.
Getting back to good old massive bribing and assassinating would
certainly be cheaper in the long run. Might take a while and not be as
satisfying to the big talking armchair hawks out there, who are like
shreiking chimps who smell blood. But they aren't the ones that have to
go fight. YOU are. We hope you don't have to but if you do, you will
NOT be betrayed by your SubGenius countrymen!

As mad as it may make me I know I have

What I fear is the day when it's nothing but Republicans or nothing but
Democrats.

"Hasher?" Uh... well... if you do get to Afghanistan, try some for me.
But don't mail it back to the states, it's illegal here.

Oh, you mean like ARMOR BRAND CORNED BEEF HASH! I throw that in with
my eggs whenever I feel like my blood is getting too thin and unfatted.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, there are tons of SubGenii in the
military. Doctor T just RE-ENLISTED!! Old-timey SubGenius Doktors who
were in the air force include Pope Sternodox and G. Gordon Gordon.
Puzzling Evidence was Navy in Guam. My dad is a Captain in the Navy and
stayed in naval intelligence until he recently retired. Dr. Legume was
in the military, although I'm not allowed to say in what capacity, and
there are a couple of guys who've been to some X-Day Drills who are
Green Berets! Many of our Ministers live on military bases. Probably a
lot of the alt.slack people were in the military at one time or
another. (I was #30 in the draft lottery during Vietnam, but I'm 4F due
to flat feet.)

Along similar lines, we have a high proportion of doctors, nurses, EMTs
and paramedics in the Church.

To my knowledge, we are very low on POLITICIANS.

Unit 4 (Doktor DynaSoar) and Unit 180 (RevEl) signing in.

I was #8 in the last draft. I burned my draft card because no one should be
forced to serve. I promptly enlisted to defend that right to disagree.

I've got 3 honorable discharges, the first from Vietnam era and the last
with disability, and 180's recently filed her retirement papers; a master
sergeant in the Chemical Corps.

}Along similar lines, we have a high proportion of doctors, nurses, EMTs

SP(UTU)M has two members presently on active military duty, one of those a
doctor. I was a field ambulance commander.

"The honor is to serve". Politicians don't serve.

Well hell, maybe some do, but the way they do it, you'd never know.
