So Hey What's With This "Conspiracy Zone" Thing

OK so I admit it, I am "Out of the Loop", in fact I don't even remember if
there _is_ a loop to be in our out of in the first place, which is to say, I
occasionally forget that I am still technically a member of an apocalyptic UFO
cult.  Yes, I know, where _are_ my priorities?  Well mostly my priorities go
towards pizza.  Yes I really do like some of that pizza, in fact if I was
still inclined to think that way I might even say it gives me "slack".  But
that's besides the point, my roommate was flicking through the TV channels and
he said "Oh no!  They destroyed Phillip K. Dick's typewriter!"  Things that
interesting don't usually happen on TV, so I went over to look and actually it
was just some cartoon and Phillip K. Dick wasn't personally involved, although
Batman was.  I can't precisely figure out WHY Batman was involved; I mean, I
kind of thought he was the Dark Avenger of the Night, and here he was settling
idiotic copyright disputes over some lame-ass role-playing game.  Probably it
was smashing PKD's typewriter that did it for him, and when he found out what
it was REALLY about he was just as disgusted as I was.

So anyway then my roommate changed the channel, and there was some guy talking
about the Church of the Subgenius.  "Do I know this guy?" I asked myself.  And
then realized that I honestly couldn't remember.  It wasn't Stang.  It wasn't
Legume.  I briefly wondered if it might have been Modemac; I mean, I hadn't
seen the guy in years and years, and sad to say at that point couldn't
remember what he looked or sounded like.  And it was that show with Kevin
Bacon or whoever which didn't sound very interesting to me, but hey if it can
be used for propaganda purposes why not.

So anyway, who the hell _was_ that guy?  Not Kevin Bacon.  The other one.

YOU must have NEVER watched the quintessential video of Church propaganda,
"Arise!"  The gentleman in question was none other than the beloved Dr.
Howll, or Hal Robins, who narrated that particular gem of Slack.  He dusted
the panelists with Holy Confusion.  Conspiracy Zone may be a midnight
show...but it has the power of REBROADCAST!!

I am VERY HAPPY right now.  I have just come in from watching TNN's
rebroadcast this evening.  The Church has used a perfect opportunity.
Praise Dr Howll, PRAISE HIM.  I am EMPOWERED with the power of GLOATING in
my choice of QuasiPropagandizedPseudoAntiFaith.

That's Kevin Nealon, or something like that, not Kevin Bacon.  If I'm thinking
of the right show anyway.  That new show on TNN?  That show sucks, though I
would have liked to have seen any episode about the Church of the SubGenius.

As Alliekatt said, that was Dr. Howell; though Friday Jones tells me
that I can do a pretty good vocal imitation of him.  I've only been an
ordained SubGenius minister since 1994 -- is that really "years and
years?"

Kevin Nealon is only six degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon.
