I Like Jesus, And He Likes Me

I Like Jesus, And He Likes Me

From: i.stang@metronet.com (Rev. Ivan Stang)

This song sprang into my mind when I was 19 years old, hitchhiking on a
road with my wife-to-be on the outskirts of London. Maybe I was homesick.
It's a country western tune. Think Charley Pride.

I like Jesus,
and He likes me.
We both like drinkin'
As you can plainly see.
I break bread while
He turns water into wine
And I drink His blood, and He drinks mine.

Some may call us vampires,
Others call us queers.
I don't care what my Lord does
If He keeps me in beers.
The Blood of Christ cascaded,
Our Savior and our Saint.
Why, just the thought of His torment
Is driving me to drink.

WHOA...
I like Jesus,
and He likes me.
We both like drinkin'
As you can plainly see.
I break bread while
He turns water into wine
And I drink His blood, and He drinks mine.
