I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I saw this. I flew back to
the Right Coast over the holidays, and got pretty torqued when I saw
the weekend warriors and their M-16s strolling around DFW. I managed
to ameliorate this outrage by telling myself that the rifles probably
weren't loaded. Oh well.
Said outrage was further exacerbated when another batch of
assault-rifle-wielding guardmen were dispatched to the RDU airport. A
headline in the Raleigh Noise & Disturber hailed this as a holiday
"gift of security." As if the latest implementation of a police state
could be consisdered a "gift."
Sheesh. Then again, the Triangle region of NC has gotta be one of the
highest concentration of glorps on the face of the planet. Buncha
redneck yuppies with Eddie Bauer Ford Explorers up on blocks in front
of their McMansions. I'm convinced that the worldwide HQ for the
Conspiracy is located in a bunker beneathe the Cary Towne Center mall.
